The California Democratic Party Bylaws (Article VI) provide that an Assembly District Election Meetings (ADEMS) be held in each of the 80 California Assembly Districts in January of each odd-numbered year (Saturday, January 09 or Sunday, January 10 and Saturday, January 23 or Sunday, January 24 for 2021) to elect 7 “self-identified female” and 7 “other than self-identified female” to be Assembly District Delegates (ADDs) to represent the Assembly District they are registered in. These elections are open to all California Democrats.
Assembly District Delegates (ADD) the Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC) are responsible for planning and attending informational meetings throughout the region and working with other DSCC delegates throughout California to represent their community.
AD Delegates are elected by voters (to participate in the ADEM you MUST be a registered Democrat in that Assembly District).
AD Delegates vote on behalf of the community they represent at CDP Regional Meetings, the California Democratic Party Convention, and those who are also elected to serve as an Executive Board member are responsible for voting and representing their community at the semi-annual E-Board meetings.

SACRAMENTO, CA – The California Democratic Party (CADEM) is set to launch the Voter Protection Hotline early amidst the California GOP’s announcement to expand the use of unofficial and illegal ballot drop boxes. The Hotline, which will open October 16 until polls close on November 3, is a part of CADEM’s Voter Protection Team.
“Sadly, this is par for the course from California Republicans,” says CADEM Chair Rusty Hicks. “While unable to win an election fair and square, California Republicans have chosen to follow Trump’s playbook to lie, cheat and steal their way into a win – if we let them,” Hicks continued. “That’s why the California Democratic Party will launch our hotline early to ensure California’s 21 million registered voters have the answers they need to make their voices heard at the ballot box.”
For nearly 30 years, CADEM worked with community organizations across the State of California to protect the rights of all voters and ensure that every vote is counted through its Voter Protection Team. This year, the team includes more than 400 volunteers which involves hundreds of attorneys and remote hotline operators.
“During this year’s election, we redeveloped our statewide Voter Protection Team to ensure that voters have the resources to combat acts of voter suppression,” said CADEM Executive Director, Yvette Martinez. “The mission is to work together to turn out and protect voters in all corners of the state,” continued Martinez.
The Voter Protection Hotline is available in English, Spanish, Mandarin and Cantonese: (877) 321- VOTE (8683)
More information on the Voter Protection Team can be found here.
It’s FINALLY time to vote and we’ve got you covered for any info you might need!
